Donald Cerrone: Rankings don't Fkng matter!

Donald Cerrone agreed to fight Darren Till because 'rankings don't (expletive) matter anyway' From mmajunkie.com GDANSK, Poland –  Donald Cerrone  knows he has a lot more to lose than gain in his UFC Fight Night 118 headliner with  Darren Till , but he doesn’t seem to care. An established fan-favorite like Cerrone (32-9 MMA, 19-6 UFC) agreeing to fight an unheralded opponent like Till (15-0-1 MMA, 3-0-1 UFC) is an increasingly rare occurrence in the modern UFC. Top fighters are largely concerned about facing someone who has a ranking next to their name; they aren’t as willing to take the risk of fighting lesser-known opposition compared to when official rankings didn’t exist in the sport. Cerrone, who meets Till in Saturday’s welterweight main event on the UFC Fight Pass-streamed card at Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland, isn’t one to fret over such things. His enjoyment of the sport trumps the politics of enhancing or weakening his position in the division, ...

Dana White buries Jon Jones!

DANA WHITE BURIES JON JONES IN A NEW INTERVIEW From bjpenn.com Justin Golightly After waiting for far too long to see Jon Jones back in action, he waltzed back into our lives, finished Daniel Cormier in dramatic fashion, now he’s right back out. We’ve been  dealing with the ramifications from Jon Jones positive test the entire summer. Instead of most likely defending his title  or fighting Brock Lesnar , he’ll be at a hearing in December to prove his innocence. Recently Dana White was asked about one of the greatest fighters ever having to sit out of competition once again. “[He’s the most wasted talent] ever. Ever, in all of sports. [Jon Jones] is so talented and gifted, God knows what he would be doing now if he hadn’t ever got in trouble. He could possibly be the heavyweight champion and have the defense record that couldn’t be broken. The list goes on and on of what could’ve been with Jon Jones. Whatever happens [with his suspension], happ...

Boxer kisses Boxer!

Boxer kisses her opponent during very intimate faceoff By  Michael Blaustein , NY Times October 16, 2017 | 3:46pm Boxing faceoffs are all about mind games. Fighters try to look intimidating, they talk trash, and they get up in each other’s grills all in the name of mind games. Swedish professional boxer Mikaela Laurén took the theatrics to a whole other place during a press conference on Monday when she stood toe-to-toe with undefeated champion Cecilia Braekhus. As cameras clicked away, Lauren approached Braekhus, stared deeply into her eyes and planted a kiss on her lips. At first, Braekhus reacted in horror and half slapped, half pushed Laurén away. But Braekhus soon started laughing at the absurdity of it all. “I haven’t got that in a while,” Braekhus joked as Lauren exited stage left. Thirty-six-year-old welterweight Braekhus (31-0) is the pound-for-pound queen of Norwegian boxing and currently holds the female WBA, WBC, I...

Frank Shamrock returns for fight he’s waited 18 years for at Rizin By  Dave Meltzer   on  October 14, 2017 10:45 p Esther Lin, MMA Fighting Frank Shamrock  has insisted many times that he was done with the sport. Four years ago, when Spike TV produced the critically acclaimed documentary, "Bound by Blood," on him and his unique and troubled relationship with adopted brother and teacher  Ken Shamrock , many thought for sure was to lead to a fight. But at the time, Frank insisted, even though he spent years trying to make that fight, that he was done fighting and he wasn't that guy anymore. A few years ago, when Bellator started pulling big ratings for nostalgia fights, he was contacted again for a fight with  Tito Ortiz , a return match from what many considered the greatest fight in the pre-Zuffa history of the UFC. At the time, he said he considered it, but Ortiz had no interest, saying a title fight with then-champion  Liam McGeary...
